dull, crepey, uneven
Skin quality
Skin quality covers texture, hydration, fine crepiness, dullness and scarring: how the skin looks and feels, rather than the shape of the face beneath it. It responds to treatments that work within the skin, and to daily care that protects it.

what it is.
Skin that has lost quality can look flatter and less even, feel drier and thinner, crease easily into fine lines, and show pores and old scarring more clearly. It can occur on a face with good structure, and often shows early on the neck, hands and décolletage.
what causes it.
Sun exposure is the largest cause of visible skin ageing. Dehydration, hormonal change, smoking and time all reduce the skin's water content and collagen, acne can leave changes in texture behind, and some people naturally have thinner skin.
who gets it.
Everyone, in time. It tends to appear earlier with significant sun exposure, after the menopause and in people who have had acne.

what Dr Munroe recommends.
Treatment is matched to the reason for the change, whether hydration, repair or texture. Many plans combine Profhilo and polynucleotides, with microneedling where texture is the main concern, alongside daily sunscreen.
common questions.
Which treatment helps crepey skin?
This depends on why the skin is crepey. Thin, damaged skin often responds well to polynucleotides, and dehydrated skin that has lost its bounce to Profhilo; many plans use both.
Can acne scarring be improved?
Many acne scars can be improved with microneedling and polynucleotides over a course of treatment. Deeper or tethered scars may need treatments not offered at the clinic, and this will be discussed at consultation.
Profhilo or polynucleotides?
Profhilo focuses on hydration and firmness, while polynucleotides support repair. The skin regeneration page compares them side by side.
the next step.
Every plan starts with a consultation: a review of your skin and what you'd like to change, and an honest account of which of these options applies to you.
